New Version of TESS

October 1997 - Taylor Manufacturing Systems (TMS) has introduced a new release of its advanced planning and scheduling multi-user application for Windows. Version 4.1 of the Taylor Execution Scheduling System (TESS) features multi-plant functionality, an automated bill of materials, provisions for preventive maintenance and cleanup, and a Windows 95 user interface.

Ursula Hess, President of the Atlanta-based software company, said that the new Plant Areas feature allows schedulers to take either a global view of multiple facilities or to maximize the use of capacity with a single plant. The Bill of Materials module automatically explodes out into all of the orders for each part and sub-part required for the final end product.

“TESS' new cleanup function is especially important for our pharmaceutical and food processing clients,” Hess said, “while many of our customers in all industries were looking for an automatic scheduling of preventive maintenance.” Cleanup time can be based on the conditions of the machine or on the product being produced. To meet the varying needs of preventive maintenance programs, TESS dynamically schedules campaign setup blocks based on user-defined parameters.

TESS , which is widely known for its real-time scheduling capabilities in complex manufacturing environments combined with an intuitive user interface and interactive Gantt Chart, was introduced to the market in 1995, and has been installed in over 100 sites.
